Ore deposits are mined in mountains and are harder to find than stone and coal. Before constructing an ore mine a mountain should be explored to determine whether mining the available ore deposit will pay off. The iron smelters later refine the ore to iron bars.

Due to the relatively low yield of ore mines, iron ore is particularly expensive at the start of the age. Therefore, always pay attention to the development of iron mines.
